Goals
(The state of affairs that a plan is intended to achieve
and that (when achieved) terminates behavior intended to achieve it.)

"The difference between where we are and where we want to be is what we do."

Goal setting is an important part of this course. A student without goals is like a sailboat without wind.

"The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don't define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them".- Denis Watley

Goal setting is a formal process for personal planning. By setting goals on a routine basis you decide what you want to achieve, and then move step-by-step towards the achievement of these goals. The process of setting goals and targets allows you to choose where you want to go in life. By knowing precisely what you want to achieve, you know what you have to concentrate on to do it. You also know what is merely a distraction.

  Guidelines:

1. Describe what you want to accomplish. What is your goal? Be specific.
2. How will you know if you are successful? How will you measure this?
3. Is your goal challenging? How much discipline and energy?
4. Is your goal realistic?
5. What is the completion date of your goal?
6. What will you do that will help you reach your goal?
7. What things in life will give you problems? Distractions?
8. Who can help or support you?
