Spring 2011 VESL Dream - Sacrifice - Practice

Class Information

1. Advanced ESL Level
This is an advance ESL class level for students who wish to improve their English and job skills, and prepare for their next learning level. Please allow yourself three weeks to understand this class. Organization is everything.

2. Managed Enrollment
Students enrolled in this class are required to attend each class. Students will only have 5 +1 absent days before they will be dropped from the class. Please inform the teacher of any absences. Please notify the teacher if you need to leave the class early and for what reason.

Monday thru Thursday: 8:30-11:15

USB Flash/Thumb Drive, Dictionary, paper, pencil

7. Computers
It is not required that you have your own personal computer. If you have a laptop, you are welcome to bring it and use it in the class. Students must provide their own Internet connection for their laptop.

8. Weekly Quiz
Every Thursday there will be a short grammar/lesson quiz. Quiz results will be posted on the VESL web page. A username and password will be given by Sensei.

9. Portfolios
Students will have their own web portfolio to track progress during the semester.



VESL Class Requirements

1. Attendance
Attendance in this class is very important. Each class will start at 8:30 every morning, Monday thru Thursday. 5 absences +1 = a drop from the class.

2. Assignments
a) Complete all assigned writing activities.
b) Vocabulary Homework (Weekly)
c) Give at least two dictations for the semester on different days.
d) Complete and present a team project.
e) Complete and present an individual project.
f) Complete two CASAS testing.
g) Participate in all class related activities
h) Improve keyboarding skills to 25+wpm

i) Write two goals that you want to complete for this semester.
j) All assignments will be submitted to the Sensei.

3. Dress
It is expected that students will follow the school dress code and dress for the workplace.

4. Participation
In order to get the most learning from this class, students will be expected to participate in all of the class activities and be a helpful and supportive team member of their team.

5. Maintenance
Students will maintain a clean work environment by removing trash and cleaning computer equipment and their work area before leaving. Teams will be responsible on a weekly basis to check the room environment before leaving each class day.T
