Autobiography

My name is Maria del Carmen Sosa Villanueva, I’m the middle child from a family of three. I was born 46 years ago in the beautiful city of Merida in the Yucatan Peninsula located Southeast of Mexico. I grew up surrounded with tropical weather, colonial churches and big flamboyant trees, in a traditional family were the food and the frequent celebrations were very important.

When I was 6 years old my family moved to the Island of Cozumel not to far away from the City, and my life changed. The Island lives out of the tourist, and English can be consider a second language.When I was 14 years old my mother sent me back to the City of Merida to complete my High School education in a catholic school, it was very hard to leave the island lifestyle, I had to study very hard and manage my way around the city to succeed.

After graduating from Highs School in Mexico I traveled to the state of New Jersey to live with an American family and with the intention to learn English. There I had the opportunity to graduate from High Hschool at Asbury Park, NJ, during my field trips as a senior, we visited the colleges of the state of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, and then I meet my passion: The Graphic Design.

In 1980 I came back to my country with this dream on my mind! After a year I got a financial aid from my state and start my new adventure enrolling to study as Graphic Design in one of the best Universities of my country located in Mexico City! I studied hard and I graduated in 1989 with an Honor Mention. I started working as a graphic design almost 25 years ago and I still love it!

Actually I’m a very proud mother of Francisco a fourteen years old teenager and I consider motherhood my biggest challenge and accomplish in life!
