Spring 2010 ESL Morning Class |
Final Thoughts |
| "I’m so lucky to be part of Ron’s class. This class is very interesting because it has a lot of work to do. If you want to learn just follow the class rules and you will see the results at the end of the semester. Students are scared about this class. I know that it is too difficult but if you put a little bit of effort you can do it. This class also has an excellent teacher. He has different ways to teach us. He pushes us to complete all the work he had given to us. I like my teacher a lot because he helps us all the time. He is very strict and that makes the class more interesting. I like this class a lot and I would like to continue studying here." |
| “I began this class only one week after I had arrived in the U.S.A. I met a lot new people and some friends, especially Veronika, there. It was, at that point, the only place where I could practice my English and had a ‘secret garden’, a place where I did something for myself and only for myself. I learned a lot at Cedar. We worked on many subjects, it was really interesting. I leant some grammar and a lot of vocabulary. As a student, I wasn’t perfect. At the end of the semester, I often missed the class but I always did all my homework (and more that what the teacher asked sometimes) because I really wanted to improve my skills. Thanks to this class, I became more and more confident and, this week end I went to the movie theater for the first time since I had been there! I was really proud to understand the entire movie. This class allowed me to speak with American people without being too ashamed by ny French accent. I am really glad to have attended this class and want to say ‘thank you to everybody’.” |
| "Before I came to Cedar school I hadn’t any idea about grammar. When I started in this class it was too difficult for me. I had learned little by little. I didn’t know a lot of English before but now I feel more comfortable when I speak with someone in English. I’m so happy because I know how to write a short paragraph. I had learned a little bit about computers. When I came here I didn’t know how to use it. This class helped me a lot to improve my vocabulary, writing, and reading." |
| "I love this class, I am satisfied I regret not having been before in this class, I learned as never before. Thank you all who supported me feel comfortable, I never dare to overcome that what the teacher learn try no matter what others think that everyone is different thank you for your wisdom, your seed does not dry believe me not throw away your time I provide when I get my achievements and further progress was thanks to you. THIS CLASS IS AWESOME, MY BRAIN HERE TO WORK ONE HUNDRED PERCENT THANKS FOR ALL PARTNERS FOR YOU HELP." |
ABOUT THE CLASS: This class is important to me because I can learn English. I learned more about grammar and how I can make a sentence with each kind of the grammar. I am GRATEFUL to my teacher for helping me to learn English and he has been patient with me. I like the form that the teacher teaches. I like to use the computer because I never used a computer so this is new for me. I like it when all the students give a dictation once a week because we learn new words each day. I like this class a lot and I must be here for the new English classes. The only thing I don’t like is I can’t be here the four days of the class. ABOUT ME: When I went to the English class I was so nervous and I did not believe in myself. I thought I couldn’t learn English but now I learned a little English I knew. I need to have more effort on the things I want to do. I need to have more confidence. I wish I could learn more English and speak well whit the people. Teacher; THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND PATIENT WITH ALL THE STUDENTS. |
"IN THE CLASS, Wednesday June 16, 2010. When I began in this class I hadn’t followed the rules because for me the classes have been difficult and hard, the teacher told me I should write sentences everyday each week. I had always finished my assignments before working on my project because I would have more time to complete the project. The mentor advised me that it was important to complete all the homework, projects and assignments to improve my English and to promote to the next level. Each class had been interesting and nicer than the last classes. I have been writing assignments and made projects, all the activities helped me so much because I had learned new words. I listened to the teacher explain the grammar very well and he encouraged us to learn each activity and improve our English grammar. It was finally understood by me. I recommended this class and don’t waste your time because you should enroll in the class now." "FOR MY SELF: Before I start my English class I had worked in the post office, many of the employees had never understood the English before this job, when I had enrolled the school by 2009. I don’t understand nothing about the grammar, writing paragraphs, assignments, projects, dictation, homework with 5 new words, use the computer, typing. The teacher said that the most important way to learn was to studied 30 minutes everyday I have been studding in this class for several month, some students made nice project, I didn’t make the project for my self because I don’t know how can I used the power point, I should have been more confident in the class, I supposed to submit all activities to the teacher, sometime I did some activities, the activities should be checked for the teacher, I feel good and happy because I learned enough English to promoted the next level." |
| “I feel that I did well as a student. This semester was very difficult in the beginning, but I have been improving my confidence in speaking English. I tried to do my homework every day. The teacher said that the most important thing was homework. I had made my quizzes & all my writing activities. I’m investing time & hard work to learn English. Maybe I wasn’t the BEST student; I was doing my best, wasn’t I? I hope the teacher agrees with me about my work in class.” |
This semester, I have been learning many different things every day. And I can gladly say that not once have I gotten bored or became sleepy during class. Because I had had a teacher that is very strict with his students, but is only strict with them because he wants people to regularly come to class and learn something that helps them to become more advanced in English and computers so they can get better jobs and be more understandable when talking in English with other American citizens who only speak English. So, thank you very much, Sensei Ron Fujihara. Good job and God bless you! ☺ |
"The class of teacher Fujihara is the best one. The ESL class he offers uses technology; these are the classes that the students need. For them they don’t know about the different programs that the computer has. This is a good opportunity to improve their knowledge about it. He encourages the students to learn English in different ways. It’s a big challenge to be in this class, but with patience and effort, all the students reach their goals. At the same time he taught us how to be organized and responsible. This class offers a better future for all students." "As students I have a lot of things to say. I have been studying here in this class for a long time. For me this class is complete. I had learned a lot of things like what to do when I have a problem in my neighborhood, how to make projects, be organized, and responsible in this class. That makes me feel more comfortable when I speak with the teachers, neighbors, and everywhere I go. I have learned to write better. I had met many students. I’m very grateful with teacher Fujihara to have me in his class for such a long time. Thanks to that, my knowledge and vocabulary has grown." |
| "This class has always been a work in progress and there are many things I still need to improve upon. This semester wasn't any different. One of the problems we encountered this semester was the low attendance. It was difficult for students to work on their projects because some students stopped coming or their attendance was spotty. The students who continually came were appreciative of the opportunity to improve their English skills and all of them showed quite an improvement. It is always a pleasure to work with these dedicated students and watch them grow and learn, and then move on. I know they will do well in the future, no matter what they do." ~Sensei |
