My name is Veronica Ramirez. I was born in Mexico. I grew up in Yahualica, Jalisco. I lived with my parents. I studied, worked and then got married. I felt very happy. We left four years ago. We came to U.S for a better job.

Now I’m living in Long Beach with my husband and children. I don’t work because I’m studying English at the LBSA. My children are in the same school. Sometimes I feel sad because I can’t see my parents. They are in Mexico and I can’t go.

In the future I’m going to speak English. I will to study a lot, watch television, listen to the radio and practice with my partners in English. When I will speak English, I’m going to get a job and work hard because I need other apartment, it’s very small it have only one bedroom, I have two children and I need more space. Week 5 Habits

Sunday is a working day for me. I get up at 7:30am. First I cook breakfast and make lunch boxes and then my husband and I have breakfast together. I usually leave the house at 8:30am and work until 6:00pm. After I finish at work, I go back home and cook dinner. When I have to work extra hours and if I’m too tired to cook, I just go to a restaurant and take out the food. In the evening, I relax and watch TV and get on the internet. I also like to take a bath and read a book. I usually go to bed around 12pm. ~Yayoi

Learning

---

My favorite class, when I was young, was math because I love the numbers and I liked to have all my bills organized. Now my favorite subject is Conversation class because I like to practice speaking English. This helps me to be a better speaker.. One of the classes that I am interested in taking is floral arrangement because I like to decorate with flowers my house. Also I would like to study to become an Interior designer. People are never too old to learn. It isn’t necessary to be young or old to learn. One of the examples that I see is that many older people come to school (LBSA) to learn English like me. I think that young people in school study because they need to learn to get a better job or life.. The elderly people should relax and just enjoy learning. My education was very limited because it is very expensive in Mexico to continue one’s education. It’s not the same as here (in the USA). The United States offers you more opportunities. The least expensive way to go to school is public schools. The highest costliest higher education would be private schools. The education is the key to success in any country. ~Angelica

Week 10 - Budget & Money

Develop a budget helps us to achieve savings goals. The first thing that we need to do, to make a budget is to compare income versus expenses. For example in my case I do my budget for my travels, because I travel two times a year to my country El Salvador to visit my family; however, my husband helps me with my stay in my country.

One of my projects that I have budgeted for this summer is my travel to Europe. I will go to visit to my granddaughter to France. This is one of my budgets in which I started to save money with time. My daughter and I are going to travel together to France, but my husband doesn’t. In this travel also I’m going to visit to my friends Susana and Vera. Susana lives in Spain and Vera lives in Vienna.
