Who or what helps you keep your life balanced?

Week 9 Do you feel that you have choices about what happens in your life? Why or why not?

Week 10  What kind of differen jobs have you had?

"-I worked with my mom who owned a record store, three record stores to be exact when I was 14 years old.
-I worked for a week as an EXTRA in a Movie that was filmed at the Island's airport
-I worked in a Italian deli and bakery, in New Jersey wen I was 17-18 years old, own by the family I was living with. I made pasta and filed out cannolis.
-I worked as a sales person for a year in a arts and crafts storeclose to the cruise ship terminal in Cozumel the year before I went to college.
When I went to college, I came home to Cozumel on the summer time and:

-I worked one summer for the restaurant asoc. (public reations and did the diplomas)
-I worked in a liquor stores corporation in CZM (did their ads & flyers)

Then I started working on my own...as a Graphic Designer freelance since I was 19years old."

This is a brand new class for me and I'm expecting a lot of work. The entire class is being introduced to a new type of class and I expect them to feel confused and overwhelmed. I don't have any experienced student to help me out, so it's all on my shoulders to make sure this class works. It will take a little time to get them feeling more comfortable, which should take about two to three weeks, if not a little more. I think once they understand the concepts and organization of the class, they will feel much better. Just getting them into a good routine will take some time. The class looks promising and I'm expecting a lot from them.

I have to remember to keep it simple and to slow down. I'm so used to working with my morning class and my expectations for the night class is too high. I'm going to tone it down and take everything a little slower. The students who are able to grasp the class concepts faster will, of course, do the work. The majority of the class are still confused and that's my error for assuming too much. So the next few weeks, we'll take each task one at a time. Step one: get students to bring in a sentence for review and to complete the grammar activity. Step two: Complete the class writing activity and send it in. Step three: Complete the homework and weekly email question. I'll feel better and I'm sure so will the students.

The class is beginning to settle down. It looks like we are going in the right direction. I have lowered my first expectations to allow the students to get accomodated to the class structure. There's still a ways to go yet, but we're getting there.
